Cost-recovery plans, with no DNS hostage tactics
v2 launch catalogue
The public resolver remains free. These managed authoritative DNS plans take effect with the v2 launch; production checkout is not claimed available until that cutover completes.

France consumer reference (75001), in EUR, without a discount or business tax exemption. The final total depends on buyer details confirmed by Paddle before payment. Estimate for your country. Live checkout is not open during qualification.
The server-side plan catalogue, API and checkout use integer euro-cent prices. Monthly paid subscriptions are being qualified with Paddle as reseller; live checkout is not open. Paddle collects applicable taxes and shows the final tax-inclusive total before payment. Free requires no payment method. Hobby and above have stable v2 launch entitlements for long-lived personal API keys, supported CLI/integration automation and zone-file import with a dry-run preview.
Stable, preview and unavailable features
Plan entitlement does not prove that a preview is available:
- Core primary/secondary DNS, managed DNSSEC and scoped DDNS are stable Free launch contracts after the verified v2 cutover. Hobby adds stable automation, import, history and aggregate analytics; Pro adds stable teams and approvals.
- Health monitoring, the Plesk October pilot, Enterprise SAML and Enterprise BYOK KSK have finite preview allocations. A paid subscription alone does not activate them. Each remains unavailable until server-side preview enrollment is deployed, its external acceptance gate passes and the account or Plesk installation is explicitly enrolled.
- Smart/active authoritative answers are unavailable on every plan. Existing objects retain only safe read/delete/unwind continuity.
Only Enterprise authoritative and secondary zone counts are unlimited. Enterprise still has finite maxima: 10,000 records per zone under fair use with a 50,000-record technical ceiling, 1,000,000,000 DNS queries per day under fair use, 60,000 API requests per minute, 100 teams, 500 members per team, 1,000 configured health checks per zone, 1,000 active health checks per account and 1,000,000 retained zone-history record versions per account. These are safety/admission ceilings, not an SLA, guaranteed throughput or an overage tariff.
Why charge at all?
DNS needs servers in several locations, monitoring, backups, abuse handling and ongoing maintenance. The paid plans are designed to recover those operating costs. They are not funded by profiling, advertising, selling query data or redirecting customer domains.
Cancellation and failed payments
- Cancel from the account billing screen; access continues through the current paid period.
- If a recurring payment fails, the paid plan label remains during a seven-day grace period so existing DNS and recovery stay available. New paid-only objects, authority, automation and scheduled monitoring pause immediately until payment recovers.
- At the end of the paid period or grace period, the account returns to Free.
- Existing zones are not deleted, parked, monetized or redirected because of billing state.
- An over-limit Free account cannot create additional zones and loses paid-only control-plane features until it reduces usage or restores a paid plan. DNS serving continues.
No dark patterns
The service does not preselect a paid plan, hide cancellation behind support, or make DNS continuity conditional on accepting advertising. The prepared checkout uses Paddle’s payment interface; le_dns does not ask customers to send card details directly to its servers.
Before commercial publication
The secondary amounts remain the approved monthly bases before tax; the primary figures are France consumer reference totals, not personalized quotes. Paddle, as reseller, calculates and collects applicable buyer taxes and presents the final tax-inclusive total before payment. The operator’s French small-business VAT exemption does not make Paddle’s buyer invoice tax-exempt. Buyer tax display and the full billing journey remain under qualification; this page is not an approval or an announcement that live checkout is available. The reference must be revalidated against the actual Live catalogue and tax settings before commercial publication.
